Aryl Phosphines News

Special Materials Company (SMC) has completed its latest production expansion of its aryl phosphine unit in Yancheng, Jiangsu, China. The plant shall bring a reliable supply of phosphinate salts Sodium Benzene Phosphinate (Na-BZPA) and Potassium Benzene Phosphinate (K-BZPA) to the current market's needs.

According to Kevin Huber, Executive Vice President of Special Materials Company, “Our Yancheng Aryl Phosphines facility is an excellent base of operations to address the current market's needs. Aryl phosphorous derivatives including Sodium Benzene Phosphinate (Na-BZPA) and Potassium Benzene Phosphinate (K-BZPA) find use as building blocks for a variety of niche industrial applications such as catalysts and intermediates in the fields of high performance polymers, yarn production, metal recovery, and corrosion protection in metalworking fluids, dispersants, and lubricity of high-temperature greases”.

Special Materials Company has a long-standing history of doing business in China, and is investing heavily to further the development of our overall business. “SMC was a pioneer — the first specialty chemical company to source product lines from China” said Adam Feldman, Chief Executive Officer. “We make sure that we are servicing our customers and that we are competitive.  We constantly monitor the competition and try to figure out what we need to do to help our customers, he added.

Besides the fully owned Aryl phosphines unit, Special Materials Company owns two other joint venture production sites in China where it manufactures organophosphorus compounds including sodium hypophosphite (SHP), hypophosphorus acids (HPA), and phosphonium salts Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium  sulfate (THPS) and Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium chloride (THPC), phosphate flame retardants and other phosphine derivatives.
